Places to visit
Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz, capital of the Provincie.
The 1853 Argentine Constitution was created in the city of Santa Fe
de la Vera Cruz. All of its subsequent amendments - the last one in
1994 - were also made there. Santa Fe de la Vera Cruzis linked to Paraná,
capital of the Province of Entre Ríos, through a 2,397 m tunnel
under the great river Paraná.
The city has a modern riverside walk and preserves some buildings from
colonial times surrounding Plaza San Martín and Plaza de Mayo,
in the center of the old town. Inside the church of La Merced there
is a painting of the Virgen de los Milagros, thought to be the oldest
painting made in the country. The Convent of San Francisco has an image
of the Nazareno and houses the History Museum.
Rosario. The city of Rosario lies on the
banks of the Paraná River. On its riverside promenade stands
the Monumento Nacional a la Bandera (National Monument to the Flag),
where the Argentine National Flag was raised for the first time. Parque
Independencia has a magnificent artificial lake, statues, a racecourse,
and the Provincial History Museum.
Other places of interest: Convento de
San Carlos de Borromeo in San Lorenzo, a national monument. Nearby is
Campo de la Gloria, where the battle of San Lorenzo was fought in 1913.
The town of Rufino is an important agricultural and cattle raising center.
