Places to visit

Santa Rosa, the Capital. This city still conserves part of the estancia "La Malvina" in Don Tomás recreational center, a 350 Ha park with a large lake. On the outskirts of the city there is a wood of caldén trees - the provincial tree -, a large sturdy tree with a bell-shaped crown.

Parque Luro Reserve.Red deer are semi-wildly bred in this 7,500 Ha. animal park. European species like wild boars and pheasants have been introduced here. There is also a mini zoo with local and exotic species. A colony of pink flamingos inhabit the park’s salt flat, frequently converted into a lagoon by the rain, and hundred-year-old caldén trees are everywhere to be seen.

Lihué Calel National Park. The valleys of this ancient sierra are home to species like the puma, guanaco, fox, vizcacha, and a variety of birds. This is a landscape of salmon-pink rocks dotted with yellow-flowering cacti. Going through the low-lying fields, you can see cave-paintings on the rocks, which were drawn by the first inhabitants of this area.
